Teknik was founded in 2001. We started out as a one man suspension tuner like many of our customers now. We really struggled to buy fork & shock springs and many other components as we were too close to the Race Tech distributor so we were not allowed to buy, it almost stopped our business before it began. We contacted a spring manufacturer & they agreed to sell us their products. Since then we've designed, engineered, tested & sold many products - there are now 3500 parts in our range that are designed in house & distributed from our warehouse in Penrith, a suburb of western Sydney, Australia.
Any factory suspension is a compromise; it's sold all over the world for all sorts of riding. They aim at a middle ground that hopefully suits most riders most of the time, so if you're into performance, you'll reach the limits very quickly. Australia is extra tough on suspensions - we ride to remote camping locations over big tree roots up rocky mountain tracks, beat up desert dunes & corrugations for days at a time, slide through muddy wetlands, even our tarmac roads are rough compared with many flat American highways & efficient European city streets. In many parts of the world what we do regularly on our everyday adventure bikes is considered Dakar spec - as told to us by a deadly serious Dutch suspension supplier.
T-Valves take the most time, effort & development of all our products. Based on years of data discovered during our dyno runs while custom revalving popular forks & shocks, we engineer & test custom component combos then package them together into a DIY kit, including instructions. They feature modified compression & rebound damping to match those curves we've developed for enduro competition winners. That's what Australians are actually using these bikes for - and if you ride hard overseas, it's probably a good match for you too.
